ROBERT E. GALLAHER, MAI, CRE

Bob Gallaher is a state-certified general real estate appraiser with both a real estate broker and a real estate instructor license from the State of Florida. After more than four decades in practice, Mr. Gallaher has developed a unique expertise in the valuation of income properties as well as extensive experience in the analysis of land, residential real estate, and special purpose properties. For many years, in both district and federal courts, Mr. Gallaher has provided expert testimony and trial preparation in matters related to eminent domain, bankruptcy, divorce, deficiency judgments, and various real estate valuation issues.

Mr. Gallaher began his appraisal career in 1972 as a staff appraiser for The Hedg-peth Company. In 1985, after achieving his Senior Real Property Appraiser (SRPA) and Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) designations, Mr. Gallaher became a partner in the company, which then became Hedg-peth & Gallaher. In 2001, in collaboration with longtime partner Patricia J. Birch, the firm was rebranded as Gallaher & Birch, Inc. In 2018, forty-six years after first joining The Hedg-peth Company, the firm was reconceived as Gallaher Valuation.

Mr. Gallaher received his CRE designation in 2001 and was named a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), an international organization of valuation experts, in 2007. Over the years, Mr. Gallaher has served as Chairman, President and/or Director for numerous organizations, including the Florida Association of Realtors, Coral Gables Board of Realtors, the Realtor Association of Miami, and the Miami Board of Realtors Education Foundation. He also served as a member of a statewide task force on affordable housing.

Mr. Gallaher served for nine years (including four years as Chairman) on the Dade County Documentary Surtax Advisory Board, which oversaw the lending of approximately $12 Million annually to low and moderate income families for purchase of their own home. He has served on the Board of Directors of Consumers Savings Bank and Florida Savings Bank as well as on an advisory committee for the Jerome Bain Real Estate Institute at Florida International University and on the Board of Directors of Chamber South.

Mr. Gallaher is or has been an officer, director, shareholder, or member for several real estate corporations that owned and operated investment real estate in South Florida, including apartments, retail stores, offices, warehouses, and vacant land. The author of a book on real estate applications of the HP 12C calculator, Mr. Gallaher has taught a range of seminars and courses for local real estate brokerage and appraisal associations.

Mr. Gallaher was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Real Estate.
